How to Print using HU Printer

Print via email:


  • Send your document as an attachment to printing@huntington.edu Note: you must use your Huntington.edu email address.


Installing HUPrinter in a Windows PC:


  1. Make sure you are connected to HU_Secure Wi-Fi
  2. Use the keyboard shortcut Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog
  3. Type \\printing\install into the text box and click OK
  4. Enter your HU email address and password into the credential window
  5. Check the box to "Remember My Credentials" and then click OK.
  6. In the File Explorer window that opens, double click the WIN folder
  7. Double click the installhuprinter.bat file
  8. Click Yes when prompted to install the Papercut application.
  9. When installation is complete, open Papercut MF Client from the Start menu
  10. Enter your HU username and password, check the box for Remember my Identity


Installing HUPrinter on a Mac:


  1. Make sure your Mac is connected to HU_Secure Wi-Fi
  2. Click the Finder icon in the bottom left corner of your screen
  3. At the top of your screen, click Go in the Menu Bar
  4. Choose Connect to Server
  5. In the connect to server text box enter smb://printing/install
  6. Provide your HU email address and password to connect to server
  7. Open the MAC folder
  8. Drag and drop the Install HU Printer Folder onto your desktop, double click to open
  9. Double click the install_hu_printer.command file. You will be asked to enter the password for your Mac, NOT your HU account. Don't worry if you can't see anything as you type, this is normal. Note: in mac OS Big Sur you may need to give Terminal Full Disk Permissions. Go to System Preferences - Security & Privacy - Privacy, unlock the lock icon in the bottom left corner, then find Full Disk Access, check the box next to Terminal and click Quit & Reopen if prompted. Try running the install_hu_printer.command file again.
  10. Open the Applications Folder on your Mac and launch PCClient.app. Security settings in macOS may require you to hold the control key while clicking this item and the select Open. Your Mac may warn you this is malware (it's not) and prompt you to "Move to Trash" click Cancel and then try opening again.
  11. Enter your HU username and password, then select "Remember my identity" to login to Papercut
  12. (Optional) You may want to drag, PCClient to your dock to create a shortcut, this app must be running every time you print.
  13. Provide your HU username and password the first time you print to HU_Printer or HU_Printer_Color
  14. You can click the option to "Remember this password in my keychain" to avoid being prompted every time

If you run into issues setting up or using the HU_Printer on a Mac, you may want to try resetting the print system. 

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu in upper left corner > System Preferences, then click Printers & Scanners.
  2. Press and hold the Control key as you click in the list at the left, then choose “Reset printing system” from the menu that appears.
  3. Enter your Mac username and password
  4. After you reset the printing system, the list of printers in Printers & Scanners preferences is empty. Try adding the printer again using the instructions above.


Associate Your ID Card:


  1. Hold your ID card close the printer's card reader, next to the touch screen
  2. You will need to associate your HU account with your ID card, press Yes to proceed.
  3. Enter your HU username on the touchscreen and press OK. Do NOT include @huntington.edu
  4. Enter your HU password and press OK.
  5. You should now see the message: "Successfully associated card with account. Press Yes to continue."
  6. Next time, you can use just your ID card to log in to the printer.


If you forget your ID card, use the keyboard button on the touch screen to type your HU username and password.
