Audio

  1. If you are checking your audio before you enter a meeting, click on the speaker drop down, and select the speaker and microphone you will be using. In my example, I am using both my speaker and microphone in my laptop. The DELL U2719DC refers to my monitor, which does not have any speakers; so, if this is selected, you will not hear any sound when testing.
  2. If you are checking your audio after you have already entered a meeting, click on the Audio arrow in the bottom left corner to test the same settings as before.
  3. If you still cannot hear any sound, check your laptop audio to make sure that it is not muted.

Camera

These instructions are if you are using other cameras besides your laptop camera, but Zoom did not automatically switch to the external camera.
  1. Before joining a Zoom meeting: Click the camera drop-down and select the camera you would like to switch to.
  2. During a Zoom meeting: Click on the arrow next to “Video” and select the camera you would like to use.
  3. If your external camera is not showing up on either list, try unplugging the camera and plugging it back in. If nothing happens still, try restarting your computer. Sometimes, even when the camera is plugged in/connected to your computer, a glitch happens where the camera is not recognized by the computer.
  4. If you are using your webcam, and your screen is still black, make sure that the webcam cover is not blocking the camera.
